What are my Tenerife Real Estate options?

The type of property and the area that it is in will be largely dependant on what you actually want to use the property for. At Second Home Tenerife a large part of our job is to sit with you and find out what the best option for you will be before we start showing you our portfolio

Buying off plan/new build

These are properties that have yet to be built. You purchase the real estate on the basis of only seeing a show home or a plan from the developers. You can choose the perfect location for you and pick from a selection of both exterior and interior styles and designs. In some cases you basically can choose how your property is constructed. This is a more affordable option as payments for new builds are made in instalments with the final payment after the finished building is delivered.

Resale Properties

These are the older houses that are up for sale. The moving in process is usually as easy as buying furniture and arriving with your luggage. A significant number of resale properties are sold with their furniture included in the price, so it could be even easier to move in.

Urbanizaciones

These are basically housing estates or complexes. Beach-frontage for urbanizaciones is now at a premium so if you decide not to go with a beach frontage, you should look to expect a lot more inside and outside space for the same money. These complexes are very convenient, both in regards to the house purchasing and responsibilities of property maintenance.

Villas

Detached, purpose-built holiday villas are usually luxury 2 to 3 bedroom properties with private pools and gardens. You will pay more for a detached villa than for a house of equivalent size and comfort on an urbanizacion.

Apartments

Usually built for holiday homes or tourist apartments these are ideal for first time buyers or those looking for rental income.

Town and village houses

Many of the small inland towns and villages around the island have a lot of properties available to buy but these tend to have limited outside space as groups of properties are usually clustered together. However the size of these properties can be quite deceptive and tend to follow the traditional Spanish decoration although older houses may require a thorough checking and some major DIY.

Fincas

This is essentially a plot of land or a property in-between a town or village. Fincas can be anything from tumbledown farmhouses to lavish modern villas. Fincas generally come with a substantial amount of land, which may include olive groves and fruit orchards
